Day 18: On tour in Gothenburg

The last weekend was the first real weekend in Gothenburg for me, since the first one was just me being tired after arriving here, and the second one was me being tired, since I was dancing all night. Oh well. So I tried to use some of the time to take a look at the city… And to do my Laundry…

So anyway, I grabbed a bus to downtown and started by just walking around. I took a look at a big mall with lots of fancy stores in it, I took a look at some of the old buildings and just the town in general. The mall had a floor full of restaurants, where you could pretty much eat whatever you were looking for, ranging from small Coffeeshops to bigger restaurants, both swedish and international. When you are going for lunch in Sweden there are beverages and a salad bar included (at least most of the time)… Which is pretty nice, in my opinion. However, I ended up eating something outside the mall, before going on with my tour. After some more walking around I ended up on a pretty big road that went slowly but steadly up a hill. And it had some really magnificent buildings surrounding it. Nothing fancy, just old, 19th century building that just in general look lovely. A very nice area. After I had walked up there however I decided to grab a Tram back down, since it started to rain. So back to the mall it was for me… However I ended up going home fairly soon after having a quick look through the stores.

I really enjoy living here in Gothenburg. It has just the right mix of vibes from a big town, but without all the noise and the stuff going on everywhere. I feel like this is what a city should be like. You have enough content in a lot of different places, but you can still get around fairly quickly and you also don’t feel like the whole city is raining down upon you when going somewhere. For me, who is only used to living in small towns, that is as perfect as it pretty much gets, at least from what I have experienced so far. I am really glad I took this opportunity to go here and experience the life in Sweden…
